General Questions
- How to choose a company to install my PV system?
Only a company with experience, skilled manpower to design great products can make a solar system that will produce the max for years. Check out some systems that have been installed, are there any customers who can recommend what products the company uses.
- Does the system run separately from the electric company?
The system runs parallel to the electric company. The building is usual connected to the electric company that also receives an additional input of the solar inverter system.
- What are the system components?
The PV system consists of a system of solar photovoltaic panels.
No. Grid-connected system does not need batteries. The electricity is produced through production that is installed when you connect the system by the electric company, the customer is credited for production. Batteries are installed only in a situation where backup is also required.
- Does the solar system run as a backup during a power failure?
No. By law, when a power failure accures, the system automatically stops itself, in order to prevent the power generated in the solar system with general network out which may cause electric shock.
- Can the solar system be combined with a grid-connected system backup?
Basically, it is possible by adding an additional power converter (a different kind, designed for batteries) and cells. The backup will be a member of several circles of power in them want to back up.
- Is there a system to deal with regularly?
Treatment is minimal. There's only worry about the cleanliness of the panels on getting maximum yield. The recommendation is to clean the panels every few months, on periods and areas where dust piles up in the extreme (a desert area, dust storms) more frequently.
What factors may affect the efficiency of the system and its production?
As mentioned, the solar panels cleaness is important. In addition, high temperature reduces the efficiency of the panels (temperatures over 65 degrees on the panel). Usually try to install the panels which have a maximum natural ventilation and warm air so they are not trapped behind the panel.
- What is the expected life term of the system?
Most of the leading manufacturers offer a 20 year warranty for solar panels performance. Voltage converter is an electronic device with a warranty of five years and is planned to work for many years.
In fact the house is connected to the electric company. At night, and during times with high power home solar system's production, power is taken from the local electric company.
- I want to install a system, but my neighbor's solar panels will cause the concerned radiation. Does he have a point?
No. Solar panels are passive and do not cause any radiation.
- If I do not have enough space to install the system on the roof, is it possible to install panels in an open area near the house? If so, do any necessary certificates (of the relevant council or other body)?
Technically, the panels can be installed wherever there is direct radiation. About certification and licensing issue related to the construction industry you must contact the Local Authority.
- Is it possible to install the system onto an apartment building?
Technically there is no problem. However, the roof space is usually small, and in many cases it is defined as a shared.
- How much electricity does the system produces?
The system produces electricity according to its size, location in the country, and quality installation. For example, a 1000 watt size system, will produce (on average, depending on where in the country) 150 kwh a month. In the winter it will produce somewhat less than in the summer.
- Is it possible to connect an electricit home wind turbine?
There is currently no regulations for installing wind turbines, and practically it is very problematic in urban areas. Wind turbine should have an area with strong winds and no objects interfere. In fact, there is almost no domestic turbine market.
- What is the necessary roof space?
The area needed is reletive to the size of the system. A 1000 watt system will cover about 10 square meters.
- Can I install on every roof?
You can installed on almost every type of roof.
- I plan on building a new house. What considerations should I consider? Do I need special preparation?
At Home Design prepare spare shading roof area facing south. In terms of domestic power, electricity and plumbing have to worry about who comes closet to the power system area.
- Do all home appliances work with solar power?
Yes all the devices will work as usual.
- Will the system produce electricity in the winter?
If solar radiation conditions are good enough - it would. The output will be lower by 30-50% in the winter.
- How do I know that the system produces electricity at one point?
There are two options: 1. A converter can be ordered with a voltage monitor that shows a clear view all the production data. 2. Monitoring system can be ordered to allow online access, so you can view the system performance at any point of time.
Choosing the system and the installation process
- I would like to install a system. What should I do?
First, you should read all the questions and answers on this page, make a copy of an electricity bill, measure the roof area, and plan your budget. Then you should call and consult with a solar energy expert - to get further explanations and price quotes.
- Are there differences between the different panels manufacturers?
Sure. Quality manufacturer manufacture panels of different sizes - is also possible to adjust the optimal size for the building. In addition, there are differences in production efficiency between the different panels manufacturers. Most importantly, only known and experienced manufacturers can stand behind their warranty.
- Can I take the system with me to a new house?
Yes. This would involve only the dissolution of the new lineup. The system performance is not expected to change.
- Can I install the system myself?
Since the system is connected to the electricity grid, be sure to install it by a qualified installer (electrician or electrical engineer), or by a company which can provide professional service.
- How long will it take to install grid-connected solar system?
After a short survey in the installation, it will take several weeks to prepare the necessary ingredients, and the installation itself will usually within one business day. The amount of time to confirm the local authority electricity company is estimated by 4-6 weeks.
- Do you have insurance against external damage or damage caused by nature?
We recommend that you consult with a house insurance agent. The system should be treated like any other system connected to the building.
